Spring beauty trends seen on runways

Fashion week runways are always a source of inspiration for Valerie & I, both for fashion and makeup trends. Spring 2016 runways were not an exception and were full of wearable beauty looks for work or school. This season, it’s all about the « no makeup makeup » with touches of color here and there.

Black winged eyeliner

I was happy to see that Dolce & Gabbana models were wearing a black winged liner, which I have always been obsessed with for a few years now. It is such a great way to define the eyes, to make you look more awake and to make it look like you’ve spent more time on your makeup than you actually did. It also adds a subtle retro touch depending on the thickness and the length of the line, while making your lashes look a little fuller.

To achieve the look:

Drugstore: L’ORÉAL Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eye Liner

High end: SEPHORA COLLECTION Long Lasting Eyeliner High Precision Brush

Natural face – Rosy lips and cheeks

A lot of makeup artists were using light makeup to create natural rosy lips and cheeks. This look was seen in quite a few shows like Gucci, Simone Rocha, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana. This super easy technique reminds quite firmly of spring and summer, because no one wants a thick and heavy makeup when it is hot and humid outside. A lips & cheeks stain is then the perfect thing to keep in your handbag. It adds a nice color to the face and makes you look fresh and healthy for a whole day outside. Add a little sheer lipgloss on top and you’ll be as pretty as a newly born flower!

To achieve the look:

Drugstore: Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the shades «Honey», «Rendezvous» or «Sweetheart»

High End: Benefit Cosmetics Benetint, Lolli tint, Cha Cha tint or Posie tint cheek & lip stain

Dewy and glowing complexion

Models frequently have a naturally beautiful skin. It gives them that fresh look that everyone is reaching for during spring and summer. This season, on the runways, makeup artists at Balenciaga, Versace, Gucci and Simone Rocha enhanced this natural beauty with highlighters and glowy face primers. It is quite an easy look to achieve at home and it is ideal for work and school as it is natural. It makes you skin look healthy and beautiful, and catches the light very well on picture. God, I love this trend!

To achieve the look:

High End: Chanel Le Blanc De Chanel | Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Highlight in 01 – Golden nude

Bushy brows

For a few years now, brows have been quite an important topic in the beauty industry. We’ve seen a lot of celebrities wearing them bold, thick and perfectly shaped. This season, the brows saga continues as we can observe a lot of big bushy brows on the runways of Alexander McQueen, Simone Rocha, Phillip Lim and Gucci. Sadly, this look isn’t easy to achieve for everyone, as you need a lot of brow hairs. I like it because it frames the eyes very beautifully and ties every makeup look together while making it look raw and natural.

To achieve the look:

Drugstore: L’Oréal Brow Stylist® Definer | Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara for Lash and Brow

High End: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer | Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel

Dramatic red lips

Bold red lips have always been a must, and Céline and Oscar de la Renta haven’t forgot about it in their Spring-Summer 2016 runways. For an interview, a gala or for going out, a red lip always looks great and makes you look pulled together.

To achieve the look:

Drugstore (price) : Colourpop lippie stix and lippie pencil in «Frenchie»

High End: M.A.C Lipstick in «Ruby Woo»

Blue eyemakeup

Last but not least, vibrant colors earned their way back into fashion shows for spring: aqua eyes are now a thing! From blue eyeshadow to turquoise eyeliner, this inspiration from the sea was seen in Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, Karen Walker and a lot of others. My advice: don’t be scared to try these oceanic eyes and bring back to the surface the mermaid that sits deep in you!

To achieve the look:

Drugstore: Maybelline Color Show Khol eyeliner in «Turquoise flash» and «Edgy Emerald»

High End: Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in «Cobalt» and «Turquoise»
